The Office of Sustainability is thrilled to announce that Dr. Vandana Shiva will deliver a lecture on Thursday February 28 at 8pm in Memorial Hall. Dr. Shiva is an internationally-renowned scientist, author and activist with strong interests in agriculture, development, feminist theory, alternative globalization and bioengineering.  She is widely regarded as one of the brightest minds working in the interdisciplinary field of sustainability.  Dr. Shiva is also the founder of Navdanya, a participatory research initiative to provide direction and support to environmental activism in India.

 

Dr. Shiva’s lecture is made possible by support from the Student Sustainability Council, the UK Student Government, the UK Departments of Sociology and Geography and the Central Kentucky Council for Peace and Justice.

 

Please help us spread the word about this exciting opportunity by promoting the lecture to your students and/or forwarding this announcement to colleagues who may be interested. A poster and promotional flyer are being developed and I will send it to this group as soon as it is ready.
